Our Story

My story starts here in Houston. I have always wanted to open my own place but i never thought i was ready. However recently my grandfather Roger (which i actually my real name as well) passed away recently. He left me some money and i decided to start my own business. The name definitely comes from him however that side of the family was never any good at cooking. So I turned to my dads side for my inspiration for the type of cuisine.

I remember going to my grandmas house and every time i would go in there the smells of cumin and chorizo would instantly grab me, and force me to sit at the table and wait for the food. However she would never sit down to eat with us and I didn’t understand why. My family would always get so irritated with her and make her sit down with us. It wasn’t until later after working in many different kitchens that I finally understood what she felt. I started to do the same thing without realizing it and started to notice that many cooks and chefs also did the same thing. I was never hungry after I cooked and I always felt awkward sitting down with people I cooked for. So it then hit me that that’s what I needed to cook. I needed to recreate those smells and let other people feel what I felt. Let my grandmothers inspiration shine through my food which something she never got to do or had opportunity to do.
